Redstar Kennels - Puppy Training Program

Redstar Kennels offers a puppy training program. This program is approximately 2-3 months long, starting at eight weeks of age. The program consists of house training, obedience training, and beginning retriever training. House Training is just what it implies. Your pup is included into our home, trained to alert you when it needs to go outside, and crate trained. Obedience Training includes the verbal commands for heel, sit, here and kennel up.  These are the basic commands for both daily use and field trial use.

Pups will also be taught what is unacceptable behavior, such as excessive barking, jumping on children, etc. Beginning obedience, socialization and retriever training is the foundation of all future field trial and or hunt test training. At this young age, patience and focusing on exposure to retrieving, guns, decoys, duck and goose calls, and birds is of the utmost importance. The puppies start out with fun retrieves of puppy bumpers and duck wings.

Our training fee is $450.00 per month which includes boarding, food and training birds. Redstar will take your pup to the vet to receive any scheduled and necessary shots. These vet costs/visits are not included in the monthly board. We only charge you what the vet charges Redstar. Since we only take 2 puppies at a time, we recommend reserving a spot for your pup. We do require a $200.00 non-refundable deposit to reserve your pups spot.

Once our process is complete Redstar Kennels recommends the pup proceed to advance training at Farpoint Retrievers under the guidance of Professional Darrin Morman.  Darrin has a long history of successes in training for both Field Trial and Hunt Test. Darrin’s focus for Excellence along with his Compassion for Retrievers makes Darrin and his programs Exemplary Please visit Darrin Morman's website to view the long list of success and titles these dogs have received through his program at  www.farpointretrievers.com.
